What do you think of this? It felt like the sky was so heavy. Strange because it was cold but to me the scene seemed warm.

Finished my beading teacher's earrings. She's a 74 year old Upper Tanana Athabascan from Tok and Tanana in the Interior of Alaska. It's funny, some of my best friends are like my Momma's age.

😬 I always get nervous when I make my mentors pieces because THEY'RE MY TEACHERS. Lol! (Anyone else?) She loves my work and says I don't have anything more to learn from her, but she's wrong. I have a lot to learn from her. I love listening to her.

She's not on mastodon so I feel comfortable posting these here.

I'll post the picture to my beading Instagram once she receives them. She's across the country in Seneca country, the land of her husband's people in New York State. I'll send them out tomorrow.

A new study suggests that mushrooms talk to each other through the use of electrical signals. And their language is complex.

In observing the spikes of electrical activity in particular species of fungi, computer scientist Andrew Adamatzky found patterns that were strikingly similar to human language.

Through experiments, he translated the spikes into a lexicon of 50 ‘words’.

I think one of the most important defining features of #Aztec thought that differentiates it from European thought, is that rather being limited to certain states or locations, liminality is everywhere.

The entire #cosmos, and everything in it, is a #crossroads.

Eigg isn't connected to the UK national grid. Instead we generate 90% to 95% of our electricity from wind, sun, & water (hydro). Community-owned Eigg Electric was switched on in 2008. Islanders are trained and employed to manage it. Electricity costs 28p per unit/kWh. Before 2008 each property had its own diesel generator. Now we have 24kW of wind, 110kW of hydro, 170kW of solar PV, storage batteries, and a back up generator. Next challenge is #netzero #renewables #eigg

Being the owner of your own Mastodon site means you are also admin -- and you get to decide what goes onto the server.

There's a thing about approving hashtags, so I did this just now for my user - me.

Not sure what impact it will have, but I'm all in here for Allowing #Mosstodon and not the other thing.

The T'ula or Yareta plant can live more than 3000 years and at altitudes of more than 5000m and may look like moss but is actually from the Apiaceae family like carrots and coriander.

Three hashtags to turn your feed into a forest fairyland:

What can I say? I like pictures of green stuff.

A question for folk working with : how are you using or - is it mostly to make flying brews or ointments or maybe for work specifically around dealing with death? or is it mostly uses like for toothaches or asthma, or something completely different?

Long post, Pagan positive books, movies

@alecanque the TV movie of the Mists of Avalon from several years ago (with Julianna Margolis from ER) had me in tears of joy at how beautifully it showcased a positive view of Witchcraft.

You probably already know about Charmed, but just in case you didn't I thought I'd mention it. While it's kind of hokey, the series definately showed a positive take on modern Witches.

There are literally, tons of Pagan-positive books. Urban Fantasy is full of them, as is Historical Fiction. I'm just going to mention a two that really left an impression on me when I was starting out.

First is the Mists of Avalon book (and, I expect the whole Avalon series, though I've not read it all myself) is just as positive - it was my first introduction to anything Pagan and made me wish such a faith was real (little did I know...)

The Camber of Culdi series is another Pagan positive read, though it features a form of Wicca mixed with Catholicism

Are there any films, games, music or books that portray or beliefs & practices in positive ways, as wise women or experts with wild plants for example?

are there any non-white pagans/ polytheists?
I would love to diversify my Timeline a bit.

Hi @indigenousauthors I'm not sure if I feel like an author but certainly I like writing, editing and translating (usually es->en) and have written a lot in my blog but mostly I wanted to share this unfinished book I started maybe in 2016 and would love some opinions or even help with getting unstuck and finishing it. It's kind of about a pachakuti or "period of upheaval and cosmic transformation" in our near future.
